St. Peter's Interparish School: Education and Inspiration

At St. Peter’s Interparish School we believe:

That as educators our job is to assist parents,
who have primary responsibility for the education of children,
in the ethical, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical formation
of the children entrusted to them by God and which they, in turn, entrust to our care.

That as a Catholic school

our goal is to make our Catholic faith
living, conscious, and active in our students' lives through the light of instruction and practice, and that
our Catholic faith and values are integral to all we do and teach.

That learning is lifelong and cumulative
and that acquiring a love of learning at an early age
leads to an honorable and rewarding lifetime of self-fulfillment
and service to God and to others.

That understanding,
both of information itself and the ways to use information,
is the purpose of learning.

That learning is an active process
that challenges students to respond to the knowledge presented to them
by taking ownership of the information and skills they learn and applying them.

That learning is personal,
and, within the context of the overall curriculum,
that instruction should be tailored
to address each student’s unique, God-given talents and abilities.

That learning is developmental,
with perspective and understanding becoming more sophisticated
as a child matures physically and intellectually.

That a child’s education should be holistic,
encompassing intellectual development and academic knowledge,
the acquisition of Catholic ethical values to guide behavior,
and growth in each child’s spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being.

That a successful education is one that produces individuals

this understanding leads to the development of critical thinking skills;
this development stimulates the application of those skills which produces new insights,
generates new ideas
and ultimately creates new perspectives and wisdom.

That our goal as educators
is to assist each child we teach
in maturing into an educated person of character
imbued with an ethic of service.
